occasional update on all things behind the scenes, as well as a list of my top five tracks

1st September It's been a while since I updated the site, with many apologies. Louis is off to New York next month to play a gig there, which should be cool, and there are still plans to tour and release a single at some stage. I'll try and be more relable mat updating the site in the run up to those two events! Last night the band supported the Wonder Stuff, and put on a great performance - I took my flatmate David and it was the first time he had seen the band. We both got pissed, as is a Rialto gig ritual these days, and had a few laughs with Tom and Dave from Rise, as well as Cheapglue's Jonny Male who was also present. We even got to go to the aftershow, but as is the nature of the Ocean being in the middle of nowhere, had to leave early to find our bus stop (we just managed to get the last bus!). Was also great to see lovely Liz, who is my assistant editor on RT and unquestionably the sexiest Northerner I've ever met (yet!)!! Anyway, I am now off to watch England V Germany, if you wanna chat about anything get in touch via email or MSN Messenger - my passport is bennyrialto@hotmail.com. 19th June Great to see so many people at the gig last week. It was a top night (and at £1.30 a pint a very drunken one!) and celeb guests included Jake from My Life Story, Jonny from Republica, Smithy from Cheapglue, Miles from the Wonderstuff and others. Sorry that we had to cancel the fan's meet-up, the lead up to the gig was quite chaotic for me (exams, work etc) and I apologise to all those interested for not finalising it. It will happen when the band tour though. Thanks very much to those fans who did find me for a chat, hope you got to meet everyone you wanted to meet. More pics of the night can be found at www.pluginbenny.co.uk. 29th May Met up with the guys on Monday to do a behind the scenes piece on the Anything Could Happen video. The feature will go in issue 8, although I also did an interview which will go in issue 7. Everyone is buzzing and the video is a great idea... more on that sometime soon. One thing I can now confirm is that the chords for Catherine's Wheel and Anything Could Happen, officially checked by Louis, will appear in issue 7 of the fanzine, as will the lyrics to Brilliant Fake and Three Ring Circus. The rest of the lyrics will of course continue to appear on this site, and today it's the turn of Underneath A Distant Moon. 22nd April Things are deifintely moving on the Rialto front... at the moment everything is going like a whirlwind. Apologies to those people who have written to me asking about ordering details for the fanzine, we're in a transitional period at the moment which is why I haven't been able to give any info. We've just set up a PO Box address for Rialto Towers and once that's done and dusted I should have more news; the Ordering section of the site will reappear then. Saw Joe Munns again on Friday and saw the guys at Rise on Thursday, everyone is buzzing at the moment. Pete and Julian are also playing in a band called The General Store by the way, and ex-keyboardist Toby is recording some solo stuff - check out www.tobytime.co.uk for more info. The band will be playing an album launch date in London soon - probably in June - and myself and Carys, who runs the Skyscraper site, are going to try and organise a fans' meet up for drinks beforehand, so if you'd be interested then give us a shout over email - benny@rialtotowers.co.uk. Would be good to meet as many fellow fans as possible! current fave 5... 5. Catherine's Wheel 4th April 2001 So here we are, (but not) alone again... It's great to see the band ready to come back. The guys are about to start work filming the vid to Anything Could Happen and have had some great scripts... can't wait to see the finished version. It also looks likely there'll be around three or four dates to coincide with the album release, and then a tour later in the year. I've been working closely with Eagle's Marketing director, Joe Munns, who is an excellent guy and has loads of ideas for the fanzine. Rest assured you'll hear more soon. Pleased to say that Louis has given us clearance on the new lyrics so up til the release of the album we'll be putting the lyics to a couple of tracks up each week, starting this week with B-sides Failing in Love (up now) and Remote Control (later in the week). and my current fave five... |
